Gatlin
Gatlin is my horse. He's a 23-year-old Quarterhorse chestnut gelding. He's an absolute darling which is amazing considering
all he's been through in his life. Before he was lucky enough to become part of my life, he started out as a race horse, was
hobbled such that he has permanent scars all over his feet, somehow lost his front teeth and was used for Civil War re-enactments.
Now he gets to play with other horses in a big field every day and on occasions earns his bread by carrying students around.
When I moved to Malaysia I had to leave him behind which was so hard, but he is happy where he is and deserves to spend the
rest of his days without a move to the other side of the world....

Part-time dogs
I love spending time with animals, and whenever I got a chance I used to play with the dogs at Gatlin's barn (such
as Nibbles, the black-tan-white Aussie collie), with temporary boarders at our house (Bobo, the rottweiler-chow-something
mix who adopted us for a day). Now in Malaysia there are a huge number of stray mangy dogs and cats whom you can't help which
is very frustrating and sad. However, some of my colleagues have dogs and so I try and look after those when people go on
vacation.
